DJ Khaled

New Orleans native DJ Khaled was born Khaled Khaled to Palestinian parents on November 26, 1975. In the late 90s, DJ Khaled took a job on Friday nights at the Miami-based radio station WEDR, working as a DJ for The Luke Show, hosted by M. Luther Campbell. He eventually began to host the show TakeOver on the same radio station years later. Beginning in 2004, Khaled tried his hand at production, and was instrumental in producing albums from artists such as Fat Joe, Terror Squad, and Fabolous. In the summer of 2006, he released his debut album Listennn… the Album, which went to #12 on the Billboard 200 chart. His second album, however, was a much more successful endeavor; he titled it We the Best, and released it in 2007, featuring guest vocals from T-Pain, Rick Ross, T.I., Akon, Fat Joe, Lil Wayne, and Birdman, to name a few. The single “We Takin’ Over” went to #11 on the Hot Rap Tracks chart and went Gold in the fall of 2007.

DJ Khaled would go on to release We Global in 2008, Victory in 2010, We the Best Forever in 2011, Kiss the Ring in 2012, Suffering From Success in 2013, and I Changed Alot in 2014. His 2013 album featured the immensely popular single “No New Friends”, featuring Lil Wayne, Drake, and Rick Ross.
