Desmond Trufant

Desmond Trufant is an American professional football player born in Tacoma, Washington on September 10, 1990. He is currently a cornerback for the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League. He played football in high school at Woodrow Wilson High School in Tacoma, Washington. The Seattle Times named Trufant first-team all-state after his senior year. He went on to play college football at the University of Washington for the Washington Huskies football team from 2009 to 2012. In 2013 he was selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the first round, 22nd overall, in the 2013 NFL Draft. He signed a four-year contract with the Falcons for $8.16 million with $6.94 million guaranteed and a signing bonus of $4.31 million. He made his NFL debut in the Falcons season-opener against the New Orleans Saints. He became the number one cornerback for the Falcons in 2014. In 2017 he signed a five-year contract with the Falcons for $68.5 million with $41.52 guaranteed and a signing bonus of $15 million. Throughout his NFL career he has recorded 311 tackles, 5 sacks, 72 pass deflections, 3 forced fumbles, 9 interceptions, and 2 defensive touchdowns.
