Dax Randall Shepard was born January 2, 1975 in Highland Township, Michigan. He is an actor, writer and director. For over a decade, he worked with his mom who managed four shops that ran publicity events for magazine journalists. He trained at the popular Groundlings Theater with Melissa McCarthy while he attended UCLA to receive a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology.

Shepard got his first paid acting gig after eight years of auditioning. He appeared on Punk’d with Ashton Kutcher in 2003, and he continued to appear in projects with other well-known celebrities, including his role in Employee of the Month (2006) in which he starred alongside Dane Cook and Jessica Simpson. He subsequently got other roles in comedic works, including Baby Mama with Tina Fey and Amy Pohler in 2008.

In 2010, Shepard appeared in When In Rome, which is where he met his future wife, actress Kristen Bell. Arguably, however, his most prominent role was possibly that of Crosby Braverman, who he played on the NBC drama Parenthood from 2010 – 2015. Shepard also writes and directs films, some of which he has won awards for. Additionally, he also races motorcycles and is a car aficionado.
