David Goggins

David Goggins is an American ultra marathon runner, ultra-distance cyclist, triathlete, author, and motivational speaker born in Buffalo, New York on February 17, 1975. He is a retired United States Navy SEAL and former United States Air Force Tactical Air Control Party member. He served in the War in Afghanistan and the Iraq War. He started running to raise money for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation and has raised more than $2 million for the foundation. He has participated in the Las Vegas Marathon, the Badwater-135 Ultramarathon, the Furnace Creek-508, the San Diego One Day, the Boston Marathon and others. He was named a Hero of Running by Runner’s World in 2008. He also travels around and gives motivational speeches to sports teams. He has given speeches to the Atlanta Falcons, the Seattle Seahawks and a number of college football teams. In 2012 he started trying to beat the world record for most pull-ups in 24 hours, but didn’t beat it until 2013. On January 19, 2013 he broke the record doing 4,030 pull-ups in 17 hours.
