Damon Wayans Sr

Damon Wayans Sr. was born on September 4th, 1960 in New York City. He began his career as a stand-up comic, and first appeared on film in 1984’s Beverly Hills Cop starring Eddie Murphy. He performed regularly on Saturday Night Live from 1985-1986, and later formed his own comedy show In Living Color in 1990. This would be the source of his initial rise to fame, though Wayans would leave the show after two years.

Since the creation of In Living Color Wayans has appeared in films Mo’ Money (1992), Major Payne (1995), Bulletproof (1996), and more. He has also released a New York Times bestselling book Bootleg (1999), starred in ABC’s My Wife and Kids (2001 – 2005) and Showtime’s The Underground (2006), and hosted the 2006 Black Entertainment Television Awards. He announced his retirement from stand-up comedy in 2015.
