Citizen Cope

Citizen Cope, born Clarence Greenwood on May 20th, 1968 in Memphis, Tennessee is an American singer and songwriter as well as a producer.  His musical style is a mix of rock, blues, soul, funk and folk.

His musical career began as a DJ for hip-hop group Basehead in 1997. In 2000 he signed as a solo artist to DreamWorks and released his debut album called Citizen Cope in 2002. In 2004 he bought out his contract and signed with Arista Records. He then released and produced his next album called The Clarence Greenwood Recordings. In 2006 he released the album Every Waking Moment. The album debuted at number 69 on the Billboard 200.

In 2010 Citizen Cope founded his own label called Rainwater Recordings. He produced and released The Rainwater LP in the same year. Its success got Citizen Cope invited to the Ellen Degeneres Show. In 2012 he released his latest album called One Lovely Day. Citizen Cope has wrote for and collaborated with artists such as Carlos Santana, Sheryl Crow, Eric Clapton, Dido,and Rhymefest.
