Cindy Blackman Santana

Cindy Blackman Santana was born on November 18, 1959 in Yellow Springs, Ohio. The first compositions she made were included in Wallace Roney’s album Verses. She worked with Roney for three albums, Intuition, The Standard Bearer, and Obsession.

Roney also worked with Lenny Kravitz in 1993. She started busking in New York City and in 2010, she released the album Another Lifetime which received critical acclaim. She was also involved in Spectrum Road with Vernon Reid, Jack Bruce, and John Medeski.

She was a drummer for Lenny Kravitz’s band from until 2007 and she resumed her role again in 2014 and 2015.
