Caitriona Balfe is an Irish actress and former model born in Dublin, Ireland on October 4, 1979. She is best known for her role as Claire Fraser on the television show Outlander. In 1999 while in college she was offered work as a model in Paris by a modeling scout for Ford Models. She has walked in shows for brands like Dolce & Gabbana, Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton, Givenchy, Burberry, Armani and others and has been in advertising campaigns for companies like Calvin Klein, Levi’s, Bally, Moschino, Mango, Hush Puppies, Victoria’s Secret, H&M and more. She has appeared on the cover of magazines like Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, and Vogue. After ten years of modeling, she decided to switch career paths and focus on acting. In 2006 she landed her first role in a film in The Devil Wears Prada but it was an uncredited role. She had her first credited acting role in 2009 in a documentary titled Picture Me and has since had roles in films like Super 8, Los Angeles, Crush, Now You See Me, Escape Plan, The Price of Desire, Money Monster, and Ford v. Ferrari. She has had several roles in short films as well, including A Herculean Effort, Lust Life, and The Wolf. She has also been in the shows The Model Scouts and Outlander. Throughout her career she has been nominated for a number of awards and has won three Saturn Awards, an Oscar Wide Award, a People’s Choice Award and others.
