Bear Grylls

Bear Grylls is an Irish former SAS serviceman, survival instructor, writer, and television personality born in Donaghadee, Northern Ireland on June 7, 1974. He is best known for the television show Man Vs. Wild. He attended college at the University of West of England and Birkbeck, University of London. After leaving college he hiked the Himalayan mountains of West Bengal and Sikkim. He served in the British Army reserves from 1994-1997. In 1998 he climbed to the summit of Mount Everest in Nepal, a childhood dream of his. He was one of the youngest people to climb the summit at the age of 23 years old. In 2008 he set a Guinness world record for the longest indoor freefall in support of the charity Global Angels. In 2000 he published his first book titled Facing Up and followed it up with the books Facing the Frozen Ocean, Born Survivor: Bear Grylls, Bear Grylls Outdoor Adventure, Mud, Sweat and Tears: The Autobiography, A Survival Guide for Life among others. He has been involved in a number of shows like Escape to the Legion, Man vs. Wild, Worst Case Scenario, Get Out Alive, Escape from Hell, Survivor Games, and more. Grylls has also made appearances on a number of talk shows like The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The Oprah Winfrey Show, and others.
