Andre Holland

Andre Holland is an American actor born in Bessemer, Alabama on December 28, 1979. He is best known for his roles in the films Moonlight, Selma, and 42. His first acting role was at the age of 11 in a Birmingham Summerfest production of Oliver!. His first role on a television series was in 2006 in an episode of Law & Order. He has also landed roles in the television series The Black Donnellys, Damages, Burn Notice, 1600 Penn, The Knick, American Horror Story, and Castle Rock. In 2008 he made his debut in film in the movie Sugar, which earned him a nomination for a Gotham Award for Best Cast. He has continued landing roles in movies like, Miracle at St. Anna, Last Call, Bride Wars, Small, Beautifully Moving Parts, 42, Black or White, Selma, Moonlight, A Wrinkle in Time, and High Flying Bird. Holland has also played roles in theater productions like, Wig Out!, The Whipping Man, Blue Door, and more. Throughout his career he has been nominated for numerous awards for his roles in films and television seires and has won an Independent Spirit Award, a Golden Derby Award, a Black Film Critics Circle Award, among others.
