Alison Moyet, born Genevieve Alison Jane Moyet on the 18th of June 1961 in Essex is an English singer, songwriter and performer well known for her blues based contralto voice. Rising to prominence as a member for the duo Yazoo, she is better known as a solo artist. With a career that began in 1978 she has thus far sold over 23 million albums in the UK and all nine of her albums have charted in the top thirty within the UK.

Releasing a steady stream of music since her debut album contained hits such as All Cried Out, Love Resurrection and many others.  Other early releases of hers include Weak in the Presence of Beauty, Sleep Like Breathing and Ordinary Girl. More recently she has released singles such as Reassuring Pinches, Changeling and The Rarest Birds.
